In early 2014, three film lovers gathered at a Seattle watering hole to share a beer and talk about their favorite subject: what was happening in the great world of film. There was much to be enthusiastic about, but also much was changing. Frustrations were vented, but so were ideas. We agreed: with all the new media options, there surely had to be a strategic, leaner, and more effective way for independent filmmakers and artists to get their work seen.

We had all recently read Anne Thompson's excellent The 11 Billion Dollar Year, wherein she suggested that in place of the traditional arthouse, the industry needed a smarthouse. With that in mind, Smarthouse Creative was born. Essentially, we set out to found the company we all wanted to work for.

Smarthouse exists to help movies, filmmakers, artists, and events of all sizes find their audience in the changing world of exhibition and production. Founded to help launch movie projects, we've since built up a core of reliable, proven strategies that work for small businesses, individuals, and other endeavors. Our roster of services continues to grow, but the mission remains the same: to bring together smart audiences and smart projects.
